Microwave photonics brings together the worlds of radiofrequency engineering and optoelectronics, attracting great interest from both the researchers and the commercial sector over the past 20 years with a promising future. The advantages of optical systems can be exploited to perform a variety of processing signal functions in the radiofrequency domain, and open new and exciting possibilities to be explored in the field.

The 2009 IEEE International Topical Meeting on Microwave photonics will be an exciting forum, as one of the world's major events in the field, for new results and developments in microwave photonics field. MWP 2009 is now soliciting regular contributed papers for the conference.
